Zach Kitschke's journey to the C-suite is an inspiring one, filled with hard work, perseverance, and a willingness to take on new challenges. His diverse background and experience have prepared him well for his current role as CMO of Canva, one of the most successful and innovative design and publishing platforms in the world.

Before joining Canva, Zach had a varied career path that included working as a bookseller and business cadet. He began his professional journey working as a bookseller for Angus & Robertson Bookworld from 2006 to 2010. This experience provided him with valuable customer service and sales skills that would serve him well later in his career.

In 2010, Zach started working as a business cadet for the Wollongong City Council, where he developed an understanding of how local government operates and gained exposure to various departments and functions, including finance and economic development.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Zach worked as an editor for Pollenizer, a startup incubator based in Sydney. There, he helped launch and grow "From Little Things," a new digital publication and event series covering startups in Australia. His role in From Little Things helped him to gain further experience in the startup ecosystem, and helped to shape his understanding of the methodologies, backed by real-world data and case studies, which entrepreneurs, co-founders, business leaders and governments can use to minimize risk, and increase the success of their startups.

In 2013, Zach joined Canva as one of the company's first employees.

One of the most inspiring aspects of Zach's story is how we worked his way up the corporate ladder at Canva. In fact, he spent nearly four years in his first role before being promoted. This experience demonstrates the importance of patience and persistence in the pursuit of career growth. For startup employees, it's a reminder that success may take time, but with hard work and determination, it is possible to climb the ranks and achieve their goals.

Throughout his time at Canva, Zach has worn many hats, including roles in product management, communications, human resources, and marketing. This diverse experience has prepared him well for his current role as CMO, in which he oversees all of Canva’s international brand and growth efforts, including product marketing, PR and communications, affiliate and performance marketing, content marketing, and brand and creative development.

Throughout his time at Canva, Zach has demonstrated an ability to take on new challenges and succeed in various roles, which has ultimately led to his current role as CMO. His story is a powerful reminder that a diverse background and experience can be a major asset in today's fast-changing business environment. And also, that it's worth to stick around even when progress may seem slow, his journey from being a bookseller to a CMO is a testament of that.
